Debriefs Show Whether The Team Chose Or Drifted

I sat in a debrief after a quarter where the team had committed to 9 features and shipped 8. One of the shipped items was a low-impact internal improvement while the feature that actually mattered to adoption had been pushed out.

The director asked, “Did we prioritize customer value or did we prioritize the easiest path through the room?”

That cadence forces the thinking early. If comments do not show up on Tuesday, the meeting on Wednesday is probably theater. If the final note does not say what got cut, the team has not decided anything.
